Puerto Vallarta, with a population of around 168 000, is Mexico’s most important seaside resort, together with Acapulco and Cancun. The city is located on one of the largest pacific bays in North America, in the state of Jalisco. Puerto Vallarta became famous in the 60’s when John Huston’s film “The Night of the Iguana” was filmed there, following which the stars, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, settled in the town. They brought the international jet set to what had been a remote fishing village and were married in the little church in Puerto Vallarta.
