LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN CUERNAVACA
The Centre for Bilingual Multicultural Studies is one of the largest and best-known language schools in Mexico- the Los Angeles Times called it the best private language school in Mexico. The school was founded in 1980 and is housed on a university style campus in a quiet, safe residential area. A spacious garden in the local style with a variety of pools, a waterfall and a cafeteria offers students a very pleasant, relaxed learning atmosphere, which is supported by an excellent infrastructure. Together with well-equipped, bright classrooms, the school has a very large library and computer room, Internet access, currency exchange, fax and telephone service as additional amenities. The teaching staff are experienced in teaching Spanish as a foreign language and contribute greatly to the fast progress made in small groups. The discussion groups with Mexican students are also highly popular.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation in Mexican host families is very popular. It provides a unique experience in getting to know Mexico’s culture and mentality and as a complement to the daily language classes in the school. Single rooms can be booked with half or full board. Students who register early may book a “superior room” with its own bathroom at extra charge. Many host families are within walking distance, failing which the family provides transportation to school. As an alternative, a Bed & Breakfast programme is available, or a room in a residence near the school. Airport transfer is available for an extra fee.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The school offers a wide variety of opportunities with 5 excursions a week. The half-day excursions cover the immediate vicinity of Cuernavaca, e.g., the pyramids of Tepoztlan or Xochicalco and the Hacienda de Cortes, while the full-day excursions also go beyond the boundaries of the state of Morelos, e.g. to the silver mining centre of Taxco or the museum of anthropology in Mexico City, while weekend excursions may go to the Volcano Popocatepetl or Acapulco. Video evenings, fiestas and lectures on Mexican topics round out the varied curriculum. The school is happy to provide information about other sports, such as riding or tennis.
