LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN SAN JOSÉ
The Costa Rican Language Academy has been offering language courses since 1989. The language school is situated in a quiet residential area in the east side of San José, about 20 minutes by foot from the centre of the city. Close by to the school is the Univeristy of Costa Rica (UCR) campus, a large shopping centre, lots of shops, restaurants and movie theatres. The school has over 35 modernly-appointed classrooms, a computer room with internet for students to use, two studios for Latin dance instruction (Salsa, Mambo, Merengue), a kitchen for cooking classes, a student lounge, and a terrace with an enclosed garden area, where students can visit and relax during breaks and after class. The school places great value to not only teach the Spanish language, but also the Costa Rican culture. For this reason, during the afternoons after the official language classes, students can opt to take part in educational excursions, dance lessons and cooking classes. The excellent teaching staff, all with at least a university degree, are enganged in their instruction and create a casual atmosphere at the school. The language school also offers a volunteer program.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The school works with carefully-selected host families and regularly visits the families personally. Our partner school arranges single rooms with half board (breakfast and dinner). Most host families are close to the school, just 15 to 20 minutes away by bus. Other accommodation options are available in hotels or apartments. Futher details are available upon request.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The school takes great efforts to impart on students the Latin American culture. After the official classes, students can take part in conversation, cooking and Latin dance courses. The newly-learned skills can be applied right away at the disco nights. Visits to museums, markets, restaurants and bars are also arranged. Weekend excursions to the surrounding beaches, rain forest, volcanoes and national parks will leave lasting impressions.
