LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN PLAYA TAMARINDO
WAYRA Instituto de Español began teaching Spanish as a foreign language in 1996. It is situated in the centre of Playa Tamarindo and only 150 metres from the beach. The building houses 10 spacious classrooms, with large windows offering a lovely view onto the tropical garden – an ideal learning environment. The school provides WLAN for laptops as well as computers with free internet (15 minute limit per day, per student). The tropical garden has two ‘Ranchos’ with palm frond roofs, which function as open-air classrooms. There is another bigger ‘Rancho’ in the garden in which students can do their homework or simply hang out in a hammock between classes. The instruction is made up of a unique program with an emphasis on personal, cultural, and academic components.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The host families are carefully selected and are located in Villareal and Santa Rosa, only around five to six kilometres outside of Playa Tamarindo, and offer single rooms with half board. Alternatively, the school can arrange nearby shared student houses with the option of single, double, or multiple-bed rooms. Further details and prices available upon request.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The school offers a varied activities program with outdoor activities such as hiking and beach excursions, as well as trips to nearby towns. They also arrange weekend trips to Santa Rosa national park, Palo Verde national park, Arenal volcano, or to Mondeverde with its animal watching, swimming excursions, boat tours, and visits to hot springs.
