THE WORLD’S LARGEST SEA TURTLES
To the north – divided by the mouth of the Matapalo River – Playa Tamarindo borders Playa Grande, an area with the most important sea turtle nesting grounds along the Pacific Coast. The sea turtle is the largest in the world, weighing up to 350 kgs. From October to March there are guided tours in the area so that visitors can observe the spectacular site of the turtles laying their eggs and nesting.
