LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN ST. PETERSBURG
Liden & Denz in St. Petersburg is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood in the historic city centre, close to the famous Nevski Prospekt and 300 m from the nearest subway station “Ligovski Prospekt”. The school premises are on the top floor of a 19th century house. The infrastructure includes 15 classrooms, a library, cafeteria, computers with internet access and work spaces for laptop users (both free of charge). The teaching staff in St. Petersburg are all mother-tongue speakers and have university degrees in teaching Russian as a foreign language (RKI). All courses are based on communicative learning methods, in which use of everyday language is combined with systematic learning of grammar. The school is government certified and is an official preparation centre for the government exam “Russian as a foreign language” (TRKI) in St. Petersburg.
ACCOMMODATION
The school sets great store by selecting host families that enjoy socializing, meeting new people and who welcome students warmly. Private accommodation in host families comprises a single room with half board (full board on weekends). Participants who prefer a student atmosphere can live in student residences. The apartments have single rooms with a shared bathroom and kitchen. Bedding is provided. All apartments are equipped with TV, telephones and washing machines. Hotel and apartment accommodation can be booked on request.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The school offers a wide range of excursions, as well as cultural and social activities. Some activities are free of charge, such as the walking tour of St. Petersburg for new students. Liden and Denz also organizes group activities for Russian and foreign students to encourage linguistic and cultural exchange. In terms of nightlife, St. Petersburg has much to offer: the city’s nightlife has improved very substantially since the end of communism – especially when the streets are full of people on summer nights.
