A NATIONAL PARK ON THE DOORSTEP
The Emilia Romagna region is intensively farmed. The large sugar beet and cornfields are interspersed with grapevines, winding around huge stakes, maple or elm trees. Wine is also grown on the slopes of the Apennines. South of Emilia Romagna begins the gently rolling landscape of the Toskana with its vineyards, olive groves and Cyprus trees. Bagno di Romagna lies between these two types of landscape, at an elevation of 500 metres above sea level in the Upper Savoy Valley, ensconced in a natural landscape of unspoiled beauty. Green is the dominant colour in this area. The jewel of the community is the glorious “La Lama” forest, with its luxuriant vegetation, with many evergreens and pine trees. Streams of clear water flow down from the wooded hillsides. The largest part of the forest lies in the 764 hectare large “Sasso Fratino” National Park, most of which lies inside the borders of the community of Bagno di Romagna. 2 kilometres further on lies the centre of the community, the village San Piero in Bagno.

The water of Bagno di Romagna Terme was highly regarded, even in Roman times. The first hot springs were created under Roman rule. Today, Bagno di Romagna is a well-known spa with 3 hot springs. The water emerges at a temperature of 45º from 8 metres depth to the surface. The people in the village are delighted to see visitors and striking up a conversation or even a friendship is easy. Despite the rural area, Bagno di Romagna is well developed and such cities as Rome, Venice, Florence, Ravenna and Siena can be reached in a relatively short time.
