Learn German in Germany
LOTS TO OFFER
Germany has many beautiful things to offer: charming and elegant metropolises, picture perfect small town, harvest festivals redolent of pre-Christian roots, art and culture to meet any expectation, combined with the timeless joys of enormous stretches of forest, splendid castles and other facilities, good wine and good beer. Reunification in 1990 ushered in a new chapter in Germany’s complicated history. No visitor will remain untouched by this country’s past and its impact on Germans.
A GREAT CULTURAL HERITAGE
Germany’s rich cultural heritage reflects the mood and the concerns of its inhabitants, which is hardly surprising given Germany’s turbulent history. From the impressive beauty of its cathedrals to the classics of the golden age of silent films, from the world’s most influential philosophers (you can start by reading a little Kant, Hegel, Nietzche and Marx) to physicians who led the world (Einstein and Planck) from the crème de la crème of classical composers (Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Handel and Wagner) to contemporary “industrial grunge” and “kraut rock” from the literary genius of Goethe to Brecht’s revolutionary theatre, this is all part of Germany’s history. It would be easy to fill an entire visit just with German art and culture.
PARADISE FOR NATURE LOVERS
Germany is also a rewarding destination for nature lovers, even though so thickly populated and heavily industrialized country such as Germany would, at first glance not seem like a paradise for nature lovers. Over 1/3 of Germany is so thickly populated that you are never far from the nearest town. Nevertheless, the Bavarian forest in South-eastern Germany is Europe’s largest mountain forest and the Black Forest is large enough that you can still experience nature in the wild. Concerted efforts are underway in many parts of Germany to restore the original forests. The forests have populations of wild boar, foxes and deer, but they don’t tread on each others toes.
