LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN BREST
The Centre International d’Etude des Langues (CIEL) was founded in 1987 and is a state accredited language school. The school is located in Le Relecq-Kerhuon, a suburb only seven kilometres from Brest. Brest’s city centre is approximately 10 minutes away from the school by bus. The school is located in a fine 19th century manor house with a view over the bay. The school building itself is surrounded by extensive parkland with bus stops, restaurants, pubs and cafés in the immediate vicinity. The infrastructure includes, along with 30 bright classrooms, a language lab, video room, multimedia room, library with a large selection of grammatical works and textbooks, CD-ROMs, magazines and newspapers, an attractive terrace and a cafeteria where students can get lunch. Students have free access to Internet and e-mail at all times. All teachers are university trained and have had special training in the teaching of French as a foreign language.
ACCOMMODATION
The school carefully selects all host families. They offer single rooms with half board during the week and full board on weekends. Accommodation can be arranged in a youth hostel or a student residence, as well as in hotels, studios or apartments.
RECREATION
The extensive recreational program run by the Centre International d’Etude des Langues is very popular with the students. Sports enthusiasts are especially well served: sailing, windsurfing, mountain biking, riding, rowing, volleyball and tennis are just a few of the possibilities available in Brest. In summer, students gather in Brest harbour on Thursday evenings, where some 800 actors, clowns, musicians, bands and circus artists transform the harbour into a unique theatrical happening. The school organizes weekend excursions in the vicinity. The program during the week includes tours of the city, film evenings and much more.
