Our partner school in Hawaii, Global Village, a highly regarded school organization with numerous schools in Canada, Australia and the USA, also offers English courses in Honolulu. Courses are taught using the most up to date methods in 10 classrooms housed in a modern commercial building in a suburban area, only a few minutes from famous Waikiki Beach and attractive Ala Moana Shopping Centre. Students also enjoy the famous Cambridge preparatory courses, which have been given successfully for a number of years. The school lounge is noted for a relaxed, casual atmosphere, in which participants soon feel at home. A refrigerator and microwave are also available for use.
ACCOMMODATION
The school’s home stay coordinator chooses the host families with care. Single rooms with half board or full board are available. Due to the city’s size (some 900 000 inhabitants), commuting times average between 30 and 50 minutes. The bus stops are close to the school. Transportation from the airport to the host family is available upon request. The school can also assist in organizing studios or apartments.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
On weekends, the school organizes camping and trekking excursions, volcano tours, island cruises on Kawai or whale watching, to name but a few of the many options. Nearby Waikiki Beach also exerts a special fascination with its windsurfers and surfers. During the week, the school offers a varied recreational programme. Many students nonetheless organize their own activities.
