LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN NAPIER The New Horizon College of English in Napier opened in 1988 and, with between 70 and 90 students, is of manageable size with a family atmosphere. The school is housed in a modern office building and is centrally located- cafés, restaurants, shops, Internet cafés and the pedestrian zone are immediately adjacent. The beach promenade is also only a few minutes’ walk away. Bright classrooms, a computer room, plus a large lounge with a small kitchen make up the infrastructure, together with the terrace, which is very popular with students in the summer. The school emphasizes serious teaching, given by the highly motivated, well-trained staff, who do their bit to create a relaxed learning atmosphere. The well-known Cambridge courses are also given with great dedication.
ACCOMMODATION
The host families are carefully selected and within easy reach. Students are accommodated in single rooms with half board (breakfast and evening meal) during the week, with full board on weekends. Only one student of any nationality is placed in a host family. Transfers from Napier Airport to the host family are free of charge. If desired, the school will also arrange rooms in youth hostels.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The language school is happy to provide suggestions for activities and excursions in Napier and offers its own varied recreational program. Weekend excursions to Rotorua, Lake Taupo or Wellington are popular. Rafting, golf, surfing and riding are available for sports-minded students, as are wine tastings for connoisseurs. The art deco city has many historic, architecturally interesting buildings and numerous inviting cafés.
