LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN EXETER
The Exeter Academy is a small language school, with a maximum of 60 students and a highly personal family atmosphere. Its international orientation, with students from all over the world, the extremely flexible program of courses, the curriculum covering almost all the important English examinations and teaching staff with years of experience contribute greatly to the learner-friendly environment. The courses are aimed primarily at adult participants. From the Victorian school building, on a hill above the city and only 15 minutes’ walk from the centre, there is a glorious view over the city, the sea and Dartmoor National Park. The school’s private garden is extremely popular in fine weather. The classrooms are distributed over the various floors in the building and are appropriately equipped. The language laboratory and VCRs are incorporated into the teaching program as required.
ACCOMMODATION
The host families are carefully selected and regularly inspected. They offer single rooms with breakfast and dinner from Monday to Friday, with lunches in addition on weekends. The school has a limited number of host families who can provide accommodation with a private bathroom for an additional fee.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Exeter Academy organizes an activity every week during the summer; this may be a group visit to a pub, a guided walk on nearby Dartmoor or to the coast. Saturday excursions to destinations such as London, Bath or Oxford, are available every week during the summer and every other week during the remainder of the year. Apart from entry fees, the excursions are included in the price of the course. Participants often undertake spontaneous excursions themselves or in the evening enjoy Exeter’s nightlife.
