LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN VANCOUVER
As a member of the Global Village English Language Centres, the school formerly known as Westcoast English Language Centre has established an excellent name for itself. Founded in 1989, the school boasts qualified teachers that ensure lessons of the highest quality and a friendly uncomplicated manner. The Global Village has two locations in Vancouver that are situated barely a fifteen minute walk apart. Depending on the level, classes are either held at the Gastown Campus (for beginners) or at the Yale Campus (for intermediates and Cambridge Courses). Learners are assigned to classes on the first day after a placement test in the public library. The Gastown Campus is located in the historical part of Vancouver near to the harbour whereas the Yaletown Campus is in the middle of the city centre where the main shopping passages are also situated. Irrespective of in which school building classes take place, restaurants, cafés, shops as well as public transport are all in the immediate vicinity.
ACCOMMODATION
The carefully selected host families are 40 to 50 minutes away by public transport. Single rooms are available with breakfast and evening meal (including a mid-day lunchbox). Other types of accommodation are also available, although they are more suitable for longer stays. These include student residences, studios and apartments. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The school organizes its own, highly popular recreational program every Friday. Once a month there are outings to destinations both nearby and farther away: Vancouver Island, Whistler Mountain or Seattle. Pub and film evenings and parties are very popular with course participants. Sports enthusiasts will find plenty to do in Vancouver, including kayaking, river rafting, and skiing.
