LANGUAGE SCHOOL ON THE GOLD COAST
In 2009, the third Shafston Language School opened in Southport, just a few minutes from Surfers Paradise and some of the nicest beaches in the world. The school is located next to the TAFE University on a much frequented shopping street with lots of shops and restaurants. The beach and one of the Gold Coast’s largest shopping centres are only a short walk away. The modern classrooms are equipped with air-conditioning and situated in a two-storey listed building. The school-owned café next door offers meals for students at reduced prices. The school has its own laptops with learning programs and wireless Internet which students can rent for a deposit and use throughout the school grounds including the terrace. The Shafston Gold Coast teaching staff are committed and have both a lot of experience and excellent qualifications in teaching English as a foreign language.
ACCOMMODATION
Shafston Gold Coast offers single rooms with carefully chosen host families with the option of either half- or full-board. All host families can be reached by public transport within 30 minutes. There is also a limited number of «executive host families» who, in addition to high standards and other additional services, live less than 15 walking minutes from the school. The Blue Water Bay Resort is particularly popular with students. It takes 10 minutes to get there on foot from the school. The resort, which is equipped with swimming pool, sauna, spa and tennis court, is very popular, so booking in good time is essential. Further accommodation upon request.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Shafston Gold Coast features a multifaceted leisure program. In the so-called «Afternoon Clubs« they show films, practise pronunciation or do sports. Themes are adapted to the students’ needs. At weekends, the school organises trips and activities not included in the price of the course. These activities include diving, parachute jumping and surfing as well as trips to Moreton Island, Fraser Island and much more.
