LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN CAIRNS
As the first- and for a long time the only- language school in Cairns, Kaplan International Colleges enjoys an excellent reputation and is very popular with students. The government accredited school, which is also an official test centre for Cambridge courses, is in a quiet neighbourhood on the outskirts of Cairns. The city centre with good shopping is nearby. Kaplan International Colleges is located in a modern, two storey building and the well equipped, air conditioned classrooms, language laboratory, lounge and terrace, and together with the professionalism of the faculty contribute to the positive aura of the school. Despite the relatively large number of students (averaging 250 to 300) the atmosphere is very informal and relaxed.
ACCOMMODATION
The carefully selected host families offer single room (double rooms on request) with half board during the week and full board on weekends. The distance between the school and host families is relatively short and most students buy a bicycle during their stay, since the city centre is flat with relatively little traffic. The language school offers bicycles with a buy back guarantee. In addition: the host families pick up students on arrival at the airport free of charge.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Kaplan International Colleges has a “social club”, at which two or three activities are organized during the week, along with excursions on weekends. Students become members automatically of this club on arrival. Students can put their names on the “blackboard” for a wide range of activities- from diving trips to riding and crocodile safaris. Costs vary according to length and number of participants. Many students undertake excursions on their own at weekends. When classes are over, students often go to the beaches north of Cairns.
