LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN ADELAIDE
The first English language school in south Australia, the South Australian College of English, was founded in 1987 and is state registered. The building in which the school has been housed since July 2007 is centrally located on Waymouth Street close to Victoria Square. The school offers an interesting, active program of courses, given by well-trained teachers. Since enrolment in the school is limited to between 90 to 100 students at any time, the prevailing atmosphere is highly personal and very friendly. The attractive location in Adelaide’s cultural centre means that such institutions as the state museum, the art gallery, the convention and exhibit centre and festival theatre are easily accessible by foot. The beach is also nearby and can be reached by bus in only 15 minutes.
ACCOMMODATION
The South Australian College of English offers single rooms with host families that have been chosen with great care. Breakfast and supper are included on weekdays, and lunch is provided additionally on weekends. Families normally live no more than 20 minutes by bus from the school. Other types of accommodation can be organized if desired. A fee is charged for transfers from the airport to the host family.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The school has a multifaceted recreational program, including weekend excursions to Kangaroo Island or the famous wine growing area of the Barossa Valley. Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the comprehensive, inexpensive opportunities in Adelaide.
