LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN SHANGHAI
The Mandarin House in Shanghai was opened in 2003. The school is located on “People Square” in the heart of Shanghai. Shops, restaurants, cafés as well as three underground stops can be found in the immediate vicinity. The 1.5km long esplanade “Bund” is also only ten minutes away and is bordered by impressive buildings of the most diverse architectural styles. In the language school there are 22 spacious bright classrooms and a common room for chilling out. The generously proportioned rooms, the good infrastructure and the qualified teaching staff (all native speakers of Chinese with a university degree and considerable experience of teaching Chinese as a foreign language) all contribute to the professional learning atmosphere.
ACCOMMODATION
Mandarin House offers for the students top class apartments which are either within walking distance of the school or can be reached by public transport within 5 to 30 minutes. In addition to private apartments intended for exclusive individual use, it is also possible to book a single room in a students’ apartment. There, students share both the kitchen and the bathroom. All of the apartments are completely furnished, with internet access, telephone and TV. Towels and bed-linen are available; the lodging places are cleaned on a weekly basis.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Shanghai is the largest and most vibrant city in China with a correspondingly broad range of potential. The city’s main attraction is the Yu Yuan Garden with its bridges, shopping centres, various Buddhist temples, Museum of Culture as well as the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which was first run their in 2005. The school itself offers a weekly optional cultural recreational programme for students. Activities include cooking, painting, Chinese calligraphy and Tai Chi. Many students also undertake expeditions on their own. The school is happy to provide information on the wide range of excursions available around Shanghai.
