Peking - Mandarin House
LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN BEIJING
The Mandarin House was opened in Beijing in 2003. Its central location is beside the embassy quarter, close to stores, hotels, restaurants, bars and the subway. The school itself is housed in a modern office building and has space for some 140 students. 10 bright classrooms with multimedia facilities, a lounge for students, computer access with free Internet (broadband) and a coffee corner round out the excellent infrastructure. In addition to standard courses, Mandarin House also offers individual tuition and combination courses. The qualified teaching staff are all native speakers of Chinese and have university degrees and long experience teaching Chinese as a foreign language contribute to a professional learning environment.
ACCOMMODATION
Students can rent first-class 2-room apartments with single rooms and a shared bathroom, kitchen and washing machine. Towels and bedding are provided, and cleaning is done twice weekly. All rooms are air-conditioned and have TV and Internet access. The apartments are around 30 minutes away from the school. Mandarin House can also make available single or double rooms in a hostel near the school. All rooms in the hostel have their own shower/WC.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The school offers a broad range of recreational activities and excursions. These include Chinese calligraphy, walking tours, marshal arts, football, table tennis, riding and swimming. Excursions are available to Hangzhou, Suzhou, Xitang, Anji or Xi’an. Students who wish to discover Beijing for themselves will find, alongside the many Chinese restaurants, cafés and restaurants serving western cuisine. Restaurants in China are generally open throughout the afternoon- and some never close. The many restaurants and pubs in the “Hou-Hai” quarter are very trendy. The school is happy to provide tips on how to spend your free time, as well as excursion destinations in and around Beijing.
