LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN CAIRO
The International Language Institute (ILI) opened in 1975, as the first Arabian language school in the International House organization. The school is located in El-Sahafeyeen, a quiet neighbourhood some 15 minutes by car west of the centre of Egypt’s capital. All teaching staff in the school are trained, qualified teachers, have successfully completed in-house training programmes and undergo further training on a regular basis. Everyday Arabic and the media language in high Arabic or “Aameya”, the most widely spoken dialect in the Middle East, is taught. ILI has 18 air-conditioned classrooms, a learning centre and a library. Students have free Internet access (including WiFi). A café and restaurant for snacks is open all day. ILI can be described as a medium sized school with an average of 130 to 160 students.
ACCOMMODATION
ILI does not arrange accommodation in host families. Along with apartments and hotel accommodations (2 to 4 stars), the school can arrange accommodation in the schools own student residence, located in the same building as the school. There, students can rent 4 single or 1 double room. Early reservations are accordingly recommended. Students have access in the residence to a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room and living room with TV and telephone. This accommodation can be booked for periods in excess of 4 weeks. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Our partner school organizes a range of recreational activities, which give students the opportunity to broaden and deepen their knowledge of Egyptian culture. Lectures in Arabic and a variety of evening events (films, cooking, etc.) are offered. Cairo itself offers many points of cultural interests, which students can visit on their own. The school also organizes monthly excursions with trained guides and is happy to provide information about the many recreational opportunities available in and around Cairo.
